Wright was the first British footballer to reach a century of caps, winning a total of 105. He spent 13 seasons with Wolves, leading them to the FA Cup in 1949 and the Championship in 1954, 1958 and 1959 before taking over as manager of Arsenal in 1962. Wright, awarded the CBE in 1959 and a Wolves director since 1990, had fought a long battle with cancer.
