 UNION JOINS EFFORTS TO COMBAT TRUANCY  
 School pupils, including those who skip
 lessons, are being recruited in a new  
 scheme to tackle truancy.              
                                        
 The trade union Unison says the problem
 has reached epidemic proportions actors
 the nation.                            
                                        
 The project is a joint venture with the
 National Association of Social Workjts 
 in Education.                          
                                        
 The two bodies have asked school pupils
 to join three advisory groups to look  
 at the problem.
