  Alex Kirby on scientists report on  
  condition of North Sea.             
                                      
  This echoes the fears of British    
  scientists that fish like cod could 
  bj commercially extinct within      
  three years.                        
                                      
  The report says steps already taken 
  to protect the North Sea are        
  having effect and are working.      
  
  But they need to bj maintained, and 
  in some cases strengthened. It also 
  says we still know too little about 
  some of the pollutants which are    
  doing the damage.                   
 
