 TORIES SLAM END TO BAN ON FORCES GAYS  
 Shadow Defence Secretary Jain Duncan   
 Smith has said hj regrets the decision 
 to lift the ban on homosexuals sjrvjng 
 in the Armed Forces.                   
                                        
 Lifting the ban would adversely affect 
 operational effectiveness, hj said.    
                                        
 Mr Duncan Smith called for a           
 "fundamental review" of the effect of  
 the change as soon as possible.        
                                        
 And hj pledged that the Consjrvativjs  
 would order one as and when they
