 There has been another twist in the    
 Wjstland helicopter saga.              
                                        
 The Obsjrvjr njwspapjr says Trade      
 Secretary Mr Leon Brittan originally   
 wanted a European consortium to save   
 the firm - a solution now advocated bz 
 Defence Secretary Mr Michael Heseltine.
                                        
 Mr Brittan's view was allegedly passed 
 to Mrs Thatchjt in a confidential      
 Cabinet minute.                        
                                        
 Mr Brittan said today hj encouraged Mr 
 Heseltine to seek a "European option"  
 for saving Wjstland, but njvjr said hj 
 preferred the European deal.
