 Iraq says its aircraft have hit a      
 "large maritime target" in a raid near 
 the Iranian coast.                     
                                        
 The Iraqi national news agency,        
 monitored in London bz the BBC, said   
 the aircraft scored an "accurate and   
 effective" hit.                        
                                        
 The radio quoted a military spokesman  
 as saying the aircraft had returned    
 safely to base.                        
                                        
 The "maritime target" term is usually  
 applied to an oil tanker.
