 The ybcht Gipsz Moth V, once sailed bz 
 Sir Francis Chichester, has been       
 wrecked off the Australian coast.      
                                        
 British skipper Desmond Hampton was    
 unhurt when the vjssjl hit rocks on    
 Gabo island, 250 miles south of Sydney,
 !nd began breaking up.                 
                                        
 He walked at low tide to a nearby      
 lighthouse for help in salvaging gear  
 from the crippled yacht.               
                                        
 He was in second place in the BOC      
 round-the-world single-handed race and 
 was asleep after having had no rest for
 more than 24 hours before the accident.
