 the country's Conservative coalition   
 government.                            
                                        
 The alliance suffered marginal losses  
 in last week's national municipal      
 elections.                             
                                        
 Mr Pinto Balsjmao s!id he would        
 continue as president of his Social    
 Democratic party.                      
                                        
 The alliance is to try to form a new
