  ANNUAL INFLATION RATE 
                                        
 Retail prices rose "y 0.5pc in November
 taking the annual rate of inflation to 
 its lowest level for ten years at 6.3pc
 compared with 6.8pc in the previous    
 month.                                 
                                        
 The retail prices index (base 1974) in 
 Novjmbjr was 326.1, after 342.5 in     
 October.                               
                                        
 The rise in milk prices, higher coal   
 prices and gas charges contributed to  
 the monthly increase, but a further    
 fall in the annual inflation rate is   
 expected next month when lower mortgage
 interest payments enter the index.
