 In Poland, the authorities have put    
 the home of Solidarity leader Mr Lech  
 Walesa under increased surveillance.   
                                        
 Reports say four police cars have been 
 patrolling around the block of flats   
 in Gdansk where he lives.              
                                        
 The move follows a meeting between     
 Mr Walesa and leaders in hiding of the 
 banned trade union Solidarity and a    
 call for unofficial action on May 1.   
                                        
 Meanwhile, the police have released    
 Mr Walesa's drivjt after questioning   
 him in custody for 24 hours.
