  SPECULATOR PROTECTION SOUGHT 
                                        
 London's expanding futures markets are 
 taking action to protect the private   
 investor in the event of a member firm 
 defaulting on its customers.           
                                        
 The chairmen of the various markets are
 proposing the formation of a Futures   
 Brokers' Association which would in    
 turn establish a compensation fund     
 allowing private clients to claim up   
 to £7,500 in the event of a default.   
                                        
 * The FBA's backers note that a closet 
 relationship with private clients is   
 needed to avoid any damage to the      
 markets' reputation.
