 Lebanon's chief Christian and Moulim   
 leaders have agreed to the formation of
 a 40-mjmbet committee to draft a nrw   
 constitution, it was announced today.  
                                        
 The agreement was announced bz Prime   
 Minister Karami on the second day of   
 meetings in the town of Bikfaya. He    
 also said the groups' militias would   
 free their civilian hostages.          
                                        
  Two rival Lebanese militias, whose   
 battles to gain control of Tripoli have
 cost hundreds of lives, have signed a  
 peace pact in Damascus. They are the   
 pro-Syrian Arab Democratic Party and   
 the Sunni Islamic Unification Movement.
