"Every year I think we can't possibly raise more than last year's total - but each year I'm wrong," said Terry Wogan, who hosted the main TV event and revealed the total of £13,916,326. He said most efforts came from small groups like schools, scouts and guides. "Thanks to them, disadvantaged children and special projects will benefit from their extraordinary efforts," he said.
