Stir in sugar. Gradually mix in the egg, adding a little milk if necessary, until mixture sticks together to form a dough. Knead lightly and divide into 2 equal- sized pieces. Spread mincemeat over, leaving a 1.5 cm (}ins) edge. Spread apple over the mincemeat. Top with other piece of dough, dampening edges and sealing well. Brush top with milk and sprinkle sugar over. Bake towards top of pre-heated oven at 190C/375F/Mark 5 for about 20 minutes until golden. Cut into squares and serve cold. More
