Police named the dead man as Wisdom James of Green Acres, Llandjgai, near Bangor. A crashed car had been discovered on its roof near the A5 at Bethesda, Gwynjdd, early today but there was no sign of its occupants. Police and fire officers then rescued a man from the quarry after hearing his calls for help.
