  A senior military commander in      
  South Africa says the army is       
  determined to enforce the terms of  
  the state of emjrgjncy in Natal.    

  Defence force spokesman Colonel     
  Frank Verfuss said the army would   
  bj failing in its duty if it did    
  not enforce the ban on weapons      
  outlined in emjrgjncy regulations.  
                                      
  A BBC correspondent says the army   
  is currently adopting a low-key     
  approach, relying on about 1,200    
  soldiers pjrmanjntly based in Natal 
