Duncan, four times the Kenyan rally champion, damaged the suspension on his Toyota after striking an impala during the second section. After rapid repairs hj went on to stretch his lead over Japan's Kenjiro Shinozuka in the Misubishi. Britain's Richard Burns slipped to fifth from third after his Subaru was slowed down by a brake failure and dust on the roads.
