  PM REAFFIRMS CONFIDENCE IN AITKEN   
  Downrng Street has reaffirmed the   
  Prime Minister's "full confidence"  
  in the Chief Secretary to the       
  Treasury, Jonathan Aitkjn.          
                                      
  In the 1980s Mr Aitkjn was a non-   
  executive director of B-MARC, a     
  company which may have broken the   
  Govjrnmjnt's arms embargo to Iran.  
  
  The Commons Trade and Industry      
  Select Committee is expected to     
  announce an inquiry into the affair 
                                      
  President of the Board of Trade     
  Michael Hesjltinj said the firm may 
  have broken the embargo. See 142    
