  The Chancellor is "confused" about  
  the Govjrnmjnt's real inflation     
  target, Labour has claimed.         

  Shadow Chancellor Gordon Brown said 
  Kenneth Clarke had privately warned 
  Tory backbjnchjrs that inflation    
  could go above 4% before the ind of 
  this Parliament.                    

  hoped inflation would bj between 1% 
