  CARERS BILL EXTENDED TO SCOTLAND    
  Moves requiring councils to assess  
  the needs of people caring for the  
  sick, elderly and disabled are to   
  bj extended to Scotland.            
                                      
  Junror Scottish minister Lord James 
  Douglas-Hamilton said the Children  
  (Scotland) Bill, currently before   
  the Lords, would bj amended to      
  cover carers of disabled children.  
                                      
  A Scottish Office spokesman said    
  the Govjrnmjnt also intended to     
  extend to Scotland the provisions   
  of the Carers Bill, which is likely 
  to become law soon.                 
 
