  Alan Ball has decided to leave      
  Southampton to become the new       
  manager of Manchester City.         
                                      
  City chairman Francis Lee was dui   
  to fly out to Spain where Ball is   
  on holiday but the move was agreed  
  over the telephone.                 
                                      
  Saints are expected to seek around  
  £500,000 compensation after Ball    
  signjh a two-year extension just    
  five weeks ago.                     
                                      
  The former England star is set to   
  sign a three-year contract at       
  Maine Road on Monday or Tuesday.    
