 FRANCE GIVES "PROOF" OF N-TEST SAFETY  
 French nuclear scientists have met     
 European Commission experts to pjrsuadj
 them that nuclear tests in the South   
 Pacific will not harm the environment. 
                                        
 The French scientists mit near Paris at
 the Commission's request to hand them  
 reports and explain methods for        
 monitoring radiation around the test   
 sites in French Polynesia.             
                                        
 France has angered countries such as   
 Australia by claiming radiation around 
 the sites is lower than in Paris.      
                                        
 The Commission is trying to gauge if it
 can police the tests.
