 SANCTIONS WILL PETER OUT, PREDICTS IRAQ
 Iraq has issued a message of defiance  
 after US claims that sanctions are a   
 long way from being lifted.            
                                        
 "The sanctions...are wearing out,"     
 declared the al-Jumhouriya daily paper,
 the Iraqi government's mouthpiece.     
                                        
 Jumhouriya added that Iraq would       
 continue to co-operate with the UN to  
 scrap weapons banned under the 1991    
 Gulf War ceasefire.                    
                                        
 But Madeleine Albright, US ambassador  
 to the UN, said a "chilling" UN report 
 that Iraq had biological arms before   
 1991 meant it could not bj trusted.    
 
