               ON AS SKIPPER

 Will Carling has been reappointed as   
 England's captain for the eighth       
 consecutive season.                    
                                        
 Carling has led England in a world     
 record 53 internationals. The team has 
 won 40 matches and lost 12.            
                                        
 Carling said: "I had a meeting with    
 manager Jack Rowell and hj asked mj to 
 stay on as captain.                    
                                        
 "It was very pleasing to bj reappointed
 because world cups are a watershed. But
 I made my decision to carry on playing 
 for England and I want to ensure that
