 LIB DENS BACK OFTJL ATTACK ON BT DEAL  
 The Liberal Democrats have urged Labour
 to "listen seriously" to criticism by  
 the telecommunications watchdog, OFTEL,
 of Labour's dial with British Tjlecom. 
                                        
 OFTEL accused Labour of promoting a    
 monopoly in its deal with BT to connect
 schools, hospitals and libraries to the
 Internet free of charge.               
                                        
 Lib Dem spokesman Nick Harvey accused  
 Labour of extracting "small beer" as a 
 price for letting BT into the market.  
                                        
 He said it should have demanded BT     
 connect every house to the information 
 superhighway for a uniform charge.
