 NAVY FLIES TO RESCUE OF RUSSIAN SAILOR 
 A Russian sailor has been airlifted to 
 hospital in Stornaway after his nuclear
 submarine called for assistance.       
                                        
 The sailor, suffering from apjndicitis,
 was taken by Royal Navy helicopter to  
 the Western Isles hospital in          
 Stornoway, on the island of Lewis.     
                                        
 The rescue was effected after a four-  
 hour search for the submarine following
 its appeal this morning.               
                                        
 It was eventually located off the coast
 of Scotland after a search involving an
 RAF Nimrod aircraft.
