 APPEAL TO COSTA RJCAN HOSTAGE-TAKERS   
 The families of two European women who 
 have been held hostage since 1 January 
 are flying to Costa Rica today to try  
 to contact the kidnappers.             
                                        
 The families of Susana Siegfried of    
 Switzerland and Nicola Fliutchaus of   
 Germany want assurances they are alive.
                                        
 The kidnappers are demanding £600,000  
 and the release of several prisoners.  
                                        
 The Costa Rican govjrnmjnt sanctioned  
 the attempt after the Commando Viviana 
 Gallardo group refused direct mediation
 with the govjrnmjnt.
