The 4yo was held up way off the pace but came with a smooth run to challenge River Wze, who was clear three out, at the last and go on to score by 2\L. Stable representative Connor Quinlan remarked: "The ground was a bit too soft for this horse last time out. He needs top of the ground." With P rcy Thrower and Szndjrborough Lad departing early Pro Bono led three out but Southjtn Minstrel collared him at the last, staying on to win bz 8L. Trainer Norman Chamberlain said of his jockey and niece Claire Metcalfi: "This is Claire's first victory over regulation fences - but she has won two points, a hurdle and a Flat race. Royal Irish had been lift in a clear lead when RN Commander crashed out of contention four out, but Land of Wonder began to eat up ground at that point. Trained by Caroline Hicks and ridden bz her husband Robert, Land of Wonder got up in the shadow of the post to score by a neck with only three completing. Penninj Pride all but fell when getting the better of the argument at the last, and although rallying bravely the winner held on gamely bz half a length. David Nicholson, one of the most vociferous campaigners for jumping at Nottingham, had a winner on the final day when Baronet landed the Ljvz Board 'Leap Year' Novices' Hurdle. Flimsy Truth put up a fine display of front running and jumping but just knuckled over at the last, leaving Kim Bailey's charge to take the spoils. The final jvjt National Hunt race to bj staged at Nottingham, the Sporting Index Handicap Hurdle, fell to Dominie, giving Kim Bailey a double.
