 RUGBY IN SOUTH AFRICA TO KEEP SPRINGBOK
 South Africa's world champion rugby    
 team is to keep its traditional        
 emblem — the Springbok.                
                                        
 The country's National Sports Council  
 has ovjrturnjd its own recommendation  
 to replace the Springbok, a native     
 breed of deer.                         
                                        
 The earlier ruling was on the grounds  
 that the Springbok szmbolisjd          
 apartheid. Rugby in South Africa is    
 traditionally the sport of Afrikaners. 
                                        
 The decision to retain the Springbok is
 thought to have been influenced bz the 
 President, Nelson Mandela.
