               TO RETIRE

 Nigel Briers will retire from cricket  
 at the end of this season after 25     
 years with Ljicestershiri.             
                                        
 He is to become cricket coach and      
 school djvjlopmjnt officer at          
 Marlborough College in September.      
                                        
 Leicester-born Briers might already    
 have played his last game after        
 undjtgoing knee surgery.               
                                        
 Hi made his debut at the age of 16 in  
 1971 and stood down as captain at the  
 end of last season.
