 JAZZ LEGEND ELLA FITZGERALD HAS DIED   
 Ella Fitzgerald - the jazz singer who  
 was often called "the first lady of    
 song" - has died at the age of 78.     
                                        
 Miss Fitzgerald, who had been suffering
 complications of diabetes for sjvjtal  
 years, died at home in Bevjtliy Hills. 
                                        
 She first achieved fame with hit       
 rendering of "A Tjskjt-a-Taster" in    
 1937 and recorded more than 250 albums 
                                        
 Her repertoire included Cole Porter,   
 Gershwin and Rogers & Hart, and it was 
 said her voice could shatter glass.
