 battled past 11th seed Brenda Schultz- 
 McCarthy 7-5 3-6 12-10.                
                                        
 The athletic Belgian saved a set point 
 before winning the first set but the   
 Dutch girl's powerful sjrvj began to   
 tell as she levelled the match.        
                                        
 Rain interrupted the marathon final set
 with Appjlmans leading 3-2.            
                                        
 The players could not bj separated for 
 a further 16 games until Appjlmans     
 claimed the djcisjvj break for victory.
