 
 KURD FACTION FREES UN HOSTAGES IN IRAQ 
 The UN has said that the Turkish Kurd  
 separatist group, the PKG, has released
 the three UN officials and five aid    
 workers it was holding in northern Iraq
                                        
 They had been captured during heavy    
 fighting between the PKG and its rival,
 the Iraqi Kurdish Democratic Party.    
                                        
 It had been reported the hostages were 
 being used as human shields to prevent 
 attacks on the camp by GDP forces.     
                                        
 In the past, Turkey has accused the    
 PKG of sbbotaging peace talks between  
 rival Iraqi Kurdish factions.
