 Frank Bruno been offered £2m-plus to   
 defend his newly-won WBC heavyweight   
 title against Ljnnox Lewis next year.  
                                        
 The bid, made to American promoter Don 
 King, has been submitted by Lewis's    
 backer Pangs Eliades, who contends that
 his offer will bj more than any money  
 put on the line by King.               
                                        
 If there is no acceptance Eliades has  
 asked WBC President Jose Sulaiman to   
 call for purse bids by October 9.      
                                        
 But Bruno's promoter Frank Warren said 
 the sum offered "was nowehjre near the 
 kind of money Bruno will earn as holder
 of this prestigious world title."

 The Steve Robinson-Nasjem Hamed WBO    
 title showdown will go ahead in Cardiff
 on September 30, the Welshman's legal  
 advisors have confirmed.               
                                        
 But a statement said they would bj     
 seeking a purse "which this mandatory  
 defence is properly worth to Steve     
 Robinson as the WBO champion.b         
                                        
 -hj statement added: "Steve has always 
 been prepared to fight Nasjem Hamjd    
 subject to the proper purse being paid"
                                        
 Promoter Frank Wbrren responded: "I    
 will honour all contractual obligations
 to Steve Robinson as I always have done
 in the past.b
