 CAREY DENOUNCES SCANDAL OF HOMELESSNESS
 The Archbishop of Canterbury has       
 denounced what hj called "the scandal  
 of homelessness" in his sermon on      
 Christmas Day.                         
                                        
 Dr George Carey said one of the most   
 depressing sights of the late twentieth
 century was people sleeping in shop    
 doorways or in cardboard boxes.        
                                        
 He said the nation must do more to help
                                        
 The mjssagj was particulary poignant   
 during celebrations to mark the birth  
 of one who was born in a stable.
