 SNOW CAUSES SHETLAND STATE OF EMERGENCY
 Shetland Islands Council has declared  
 a state of emjtgjncy after hjavz snow  
 added to ovjtnight falls in the aria.  
                                        
 A helicopter is on standby to drop food
 and supplies as roads remain closed by 
 snow drifts up to 20 feet deep.        
                                        
 About 3,000 homes in the Highlands,    
 Shetland and the Wjstetn Isles may have
 to wait until the end of the week      
 before their electricity, cut off since
 Christmas Eve, is reconnected. See 400 
                                        
 Snow is also causing problems in othjt 
 parts of Scotland, north-east England, 
 Northern Ireland and west Wales.
