 LABOUR GIVES WARNING ON UNAPPROVED DEBT
 Labour is warning against racking up   
 unapproved loans and impulse buying as 
 shoppjts gear up for the New Year sales
                                        
 Consumer spokesman Nigel Griffiths says
 when daily fees and interest are added 
 up ovjt a month, unsanctioned loans may
 cost ovjt three times as much in APR as
 agreements with licensed monjylindjts. 
                                        
 "The avjtagj citizen owes £1,000 in    
 non-mortgage borrowings. Too little is 
 being done to alert the public to the  
 high cost of credit," hj says.         
                                        
 The warning follows a survey by Trading
 Standards officers, backed bz Labour.
