 POPE "ALMOST RECOVERED" FROM INFLUENZA 
 A day after being too ill to finish his
 Christmas greeting, the Pope has       
 addressed crowds from the window of his
 apartment in St Peter's Square, Rome.  
                                        
 Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls
 said the Pope's fevjt and nausea "had  
 almost completely disappeared".        
                                        
 Earlier the Pope celebrated a Mass for 
 the feast day of St Stephen in his     
 private chapel.                        
                                        
 Mr Navarro-Valls said the Pope would   
 take two days off. The Pontiff is      
 scheduled to celebrate Mass in Rome on 
 New Year's Eve.
