 OPTIMISM OVER SYRIAN-ISRAELI PEACE DEAL
 The liadjts of Egypt and Jordan have   
 said they are optimistic Israel and    
 Syria will soon conclude a peace ttiaty
                                        
 King Hussein of Jordan said thjti had  
 been tangible progress in negotiations,
 after talks with President Mubarak in  
 the Jordanian city of Aqaba.           
                                        
 President Mubarak, who has also been   
 holding talks in Cairo with Syrian,    
 Israeli and Palistinan liadjts, said hj
 hoped a dial could bj reached next year
                                        
 Israel and Syria are dui to resume     
 peace talks in the US tomorrow after   
 a six-month break.
