 BORIS VOWS TO DEFEND OPEN TITLE        
 Boris Becker will defend his Australian
 Open title despite the ankle injury    
 that has forced him to withdraw from a 
 tournament in Qatar next week.         
                                        
 The three-times Wimbledon champion     
 suffered the injury in training but    
 intends to play the year's first Grand 
 Slam event, starting on January 13.    
                                        
 He said: "Provided nothing unexpected  
 happens, I will play."                 
                                        
 The 29-year-old's Open triumph a year  
 ago was his first Grand Slam success   
 for five years.
