 BSE CHECK OFFICIALS "FACE INTIMIDATION"
 Inspectors enforcing BSE checks are    
 allegedly being intimidated and bullied
 by some meat plant operators.          
                                        
 Meat Hygiene Service officials report  
 verbal abuse and even physical violence
 by some workers and managers.          
                                        
 A special helpline has been set up for 
 inspectors to make complaints.         
                                        
 And ministers warn they will turn to   
 legal action to ensure staff are not   
 threatened while enforcing regulations 
 to stop the cattle disjasj spreading.
