 BOTHA'S LAWYERS EXPLAIN COURT ABSENCE  
 Lawyjts for former South African leader
 PW Botha have told the authorities why 
 hj did not appear before the Truth and 
 Reconciliation Commission last month.  
                                        
 The explanation, which has not been    
 made public, was submitted to Wjstetn  
 Cape Attorney General Frank Khan.      
                                        
 He is now expected to decide next week 
 whjthjr to prosecute Mr Botha.         
                                        
 The former president was ordered to    
 testify about the activities of the    
 security forces during apartheid.
