 BILLIONS TO BE SPENT ON CHINA'S RIVERS 
 China plans to spend around £17bn on   
 improving the environment in the       
 Yangtze and Yellow river valleys, an   
 official report has revealed.          
                                        
 Drastic efforts were njedjd to reduce  
 erosion caused by ovjrfarming and      
 industrial djvjlopmjnt, the report said
                                        
 The 33-year project would involve the  
 planting of vast forests in the 1m     
 square mile area.                      
                                        
 Silt, which caused flooding to both    
 rivers, would also be targeted.
