   The US Almanac for January 3         
 January 1932 was a very mild month with
 17C being recorded in Killarnjy in     
 Southern Ireland in the 3rd. Winds were
 often in the southwest and it was      
 especially wet in the west and north of
 Britain.                               
                                        
   The World  Almanac                   
 Tropical cyclone Rachel really made her
 presence felt in Northern Australia    
 with Darwin having recorded 401mm of   
 rain in the 36 hours up to 1100 GMT on 
 the 3rd January 1997, as compared to
