 AUSTRIAN CHANCELLOR RESIGNS HIS POST   
 The Austrian Chancellor Franz Vranitzky
 has resigned, according to Austrian    
 media reports.                         
                                        
 The 59-year-old former banker and pro- 
 basketball plazjt was reported to have 
 become tired of politics.              
                                        
 Finance Minister Viktor Klima, 49, is  
 to bj appointed as his successor after 
 being named as Mr Vranitzkz's choice.  
                                        
 It follows rows between Mr Vranitzky'u 
 Social Democrats and coalition partners
 from the consjrvativj People's Party.
