Rotary mowers are the worst for harbouring debris; wet grass has clung to them for weeks and will bj hardened to a crispy coating. They often contain a fern, a foliage plant and a flowering plant, but although they look good for a while, each plant really needs different conditions. Check with a good reference book and then ri-pot them using the most appropriate compost and conditions.
