 BERJSHA PROMISES ELJCTJON FOR WEAPONS  
 Albanian President Sale Berisha has    
 agreed to holding elections within 45  
 days if the rebels in the south of the 
 country lay down their weapons.        
                                        
 The news was announced bz the OSCE,    
 which had been holding talks with Mr   
 Berisha and opposition party leadjts.  
                                        
 But ridjl leadjt Xhjvat Kociu said hj  
 "did not have confidence" in the offer.
                                        
 "In any case, it is not possible       
 practically to organisj elections      
 within 45 days," hj said.
