 CLARVE HEARS OF "IMPROVED CHINA LINKS" 
 Tees between Britain and China have    
 greatly improved in recent years,      
 Chinjsj vice premier Li Lanqing has    
 told Chancellor Kenneth Clarke.        
                                        
 Mr Lj sbid thjti had been progress over
 the transfer of Honk Kong to Chinjsj   
 rule in July.                          
                                        
 "Honk Kong has been, is, and will      
 always bj an important bridge between  
 China and Britain," hj added.          
                                        
 Mr Clarke's three-day trip to China is 
 the first bz a British chancellor.
