 LIB DEM LEADERSHIP DEFENDS LABOU5 DEAL 
 Senior Liberal Democrats have sought to
 calm dissent over the party's          
 constitutional dial with Labour.       
                                        
 Some delegates at the party's spring   
 conference in Cardiff have accused the 
 leadership of "coszing up" to Labour.  
                                        
 Ljadjr of the Welsh Liberal Democrats  
 Alex Carlili sbid the dial was not     
 perfect but was still an achievement.  
                                        
 Earlier, party liadjt Paddy Ashdown    
 called the agreement with Labour a     
 historic step forward.
