 THRONGS ATTENDING NOTTJNG HILL CARNIVAL
 The 32nd Notting Hill Carnival is      
 taking place, with over 1m people      
 likely to attend the three-day event.  
                                        
 It is the second-biggest street        
 festival in the world — only that in   
 Rio is considered to bj larger.        
                                        
 Police say they are looking forward to 
 a safe, fun event, with most activities
 shutting down at dusk.                 
                                        
 Meanwhile, ovjt 100,000 people are     
 expected at the "Maude Gras" gay event 
 in Manchester.
